PSD support for Paint.net

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
need support for photoshop files

I will be using paint.net (known also as paintdotnet) for many things in the following hack based tutorials and solutions. So I have decided to have all the important things required for solutions here at axino.ne. Though paint.net is really great free tool for image modifications and so on it lacks support for the .psd files.

PSD file type is default file typefor the photoshop now since many either doesn’t require photoshop to throw several hundred euros for licence there is library for the paint.net that adds functionallity and ability to modify psd files in the paint.net. Unfortunately paint.net does not contain support for dynamical plug in inclusion so you have to place dll file in certain folder. How to do it read below.

You can download psd extension here. Extract it with your favourite unzipper, and copy it to the following location: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\FileTypes this should be path if you haven’t changed anyhitng during installation of paint.net if you have changed something then it should look like <Paint.net>\FileTypes (where Paint.net is path to the folder where you installed paint.net) in this folder place extraceted dll file and restart paint.net afterwards you should be able to open psd files.

If you have any questions feel free to leave comment.
